I’m sorry, you said you needed to have what kind of body to do yoga?
wow. Amazing and inspiring! Does anybody know if this is the same person, who she is and if she has a tumblr?

I am sore in places I didn’t know I could be sore in. Like the apparent muscle underneath your collarbone? Hahaha! It feels SO good, though!
Why am I sore? Baby, I just started heavy lifting!
After a few weeks/a month of pussyfooting around the idea I finally forced myself to do it. Of course, my husband wants to do it/did it with me so I feel like less of a moron, but I was still nervous. We got to the gym and there was only one other person there (thankfully!) and I kinda felt like a deer in headlights. I had studied the moves to do but I had no idea how to properly use the bars and whatnot. And things like how high we’re supposed to put the squat bar or if you’re warm up is supposed to be all the moves or just the one you’re planning on repping right away eluded me. But we figured it out and I think we did okay. I think we had the squat bar a little low still, but it’s all trial and error.
Luckily, my Zumba friend, the lady I’m coteaching classes with, Jen—her husband came in at the right time! He asked us if we were just starting out (considering we were only benchpressing just the bar because that’s as much as we could do at that moment!) and he gave us a few pointers. I thought it was very nice of him and I couldn’t be happier for the tips.
He said that if we had any questions just to ask and we thanked him. It gave me the idea that we do need a seasoned lifter to help us out—so we contacted our friend who also lifts (no offense to Jen’s husband, I just feel more comfortable with people that I know better!) and we’re going back tonight so he can give us tips/teach us more stuff!
So yeah, yesterday we stuck with squats, deadlifts, and bench presses. I will pay attention to reps next time, probably bring a notebook along! Last night we were just trying to get the feel. Dang, I felt powerful though. My husband told me I squatted like a professional! XD
In addition to that, I learned that the place where I started taking my Zumba classes this year is now offering a yoga class! Tonight. At 5:30! I’m so goingggg!!!! I like yoga, and I’ve done yoga at home, but I’ve really wanted to take a class just so I know I’m executing the moves correctly! Because I don’t want to continue with home, do them wrong and then have someone correct me so I have relearn the moves over, you know? So I’m really, really pumped! :]]
Man, I’ve got butterflies in my stomach from how excited I am about the next couple months!!!
#Awesomeness w/ Yoga
this is incredible. INCREDIBLE. Who says yoga can’t help you lose weight?

I went to the gym today and weighed myself for the first time since the beginning of this month. I lost 5 lbs!!! I consider that really, REALLY good considering that I have had a lot of off days and had some not so healthy meals. Not to mention I didn’t do food research until the 2nd week of April which is also when I decided to stop drinking soda, stop eating fast food, and developed the habit to go to the farmers market every week. I also got back into weight training this month so I probably gained some muscle too. Overall I’m really proud of myself.
In addition to the loss, I checked out a Zumba class at a new place tonight! It was SO fun! The atmosphere is way more chill than my other one that tends to be very cliquey and the steps were super fun! I felt like I got a great workout—especially for my first Zumba class since my instructor training. I can’t wait to go back!
Sooo, I’m pretty active. I Zumba at least two or three days a week, I run two to five days a week, and I weight train three days a week AND try to mountain bike on the weekends weather permitting. Now that I have a pretty good routine down with nutrition and whatnot, I really want to see how far I can push myself in May. I’d like to add yoga to the mix somewhere because I’d like to improve my flexibility and I was curious about more cardio stuff—I know a few people who’ve been doing Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred or Insanity. I don’t know what P90X is, but I’m interested in learning. What would you recommend for yoga and/or cardio?
