25 Health/Food/Yoga/Fitblr questions. (Answered by me!)

1: Clif, Lara, or Luna? Clif because it's a protein bar. Luna has good flavors though and I've never had Lara.
2: Favorite 'guilty pleasure' food? powdered, cream filled faschnaut from an Amish bakery in the farmer's market.
3: Would you consider yourself more of a tea drinker or coffee drinker? coffee drinker. I try SO HARD to like tea, but I...just don't.
4: Do you exercise? Is it something you enjoy? yes I do! And I enjoy it very much! I love all sorts of exercise--heavy lifting, Zumba, running, walking, jump rope, yoga, pilates, Zumba (had to say it twice!), ect! Swimming, though there's nowhere to swim around here ~longs for a pool
5: Would you ever go vegan? I would for experimental purposes, but not for more than a week. I love eggs and cheese and honey way too much.
6: What is your dream meal? You have no money limit, can use any ingredients in the world, and you don't have to cook it yourself. dang, I'm still not super familiar with so much food. Something from France, probably.
7: Do you practice yoga? If so, what are your favorite/least favorite poses? I attempted at home and I just recently started taking a class. I like the pigeon pose even though it hurts (good hurt) a bit and right now the downward dog kills me because I put too much pressure on my wrists.
8: Would you rather only eat dessert foods for the rest of your life, or never have another dessert food in the rest of your life? probably never have dessert for the reason that I can get sweet from fruit and whatnot.
9: What is 'healthy eating' to you? trying to eat things with few ingredients, light on preservatives, if any. Yet I feel its a-ok to eat anything and everything in moderation!
10: What are you top three favorite fruits, and top three favorite veggies? phooo...grapes, mango, bananas for fruits (I GUESSS...though pineapple, pink lady apples, and watermelon are so close!). Spinach, green pepper, sweet potato (new favorite!) for veggies.
11: What are your three least favorite fruits, and your three least favorite veggies? tomatoes, cantaloupe (but I'll eat it), grapefruit for fruits. Peas (BLEGH--though I haven't tried 'em in awhile!), cooked carrots (emphesis on cooked), cauliflower for veggies.
12: Do you juice? If so, what's your favorite juice? I don't have a juicer...though I did make a yummy orange mango smoothie the other day~
13: [If you do yoga] Do you prefer to follow along a video, take a class, or just make up your own flows? so far I am preferring a class for the reason that I'm not knowledgeable enough to do it on my own (yet).
14: If you could only drink one flavor of tea for the rest of your life, which would it be? green, because it's the one I can stand the most!
15: What's your favorite nut butter? Least favorite that you've tried? peanut, because it's the only one I've tried. Almond sounds delicious though!
16: What store's athletic-wear do you like best? (yoga pants, sports bras, running shorts, etc.) uhhh, Target? Haha. Really, though. I dig their sports bras. I'm not cool enough to have any fancay Nike or Under Armor stuff yet! Zumbawear!!!
17: If you had to pick just five foods to eat for the rest of your life, what would they be? Oh geez. Sweet potato, spinach, eggs, olive oil, andd...100% whole wheat bread? ;A; I hope this never happens.
18: What's your opinion on people who have no concern about keeping themselves/their bodies healthy? well, I used to be one of them, so obviously, they annoy me now. Hah! Honestly, it just makes me sad. I try to talk my Mom into exercising and coaxing her to stop smoking and whatnot, but I really feel it goes in one ear and right out the other. It makes me really sad because people always think it's too late to change. That they're too old, or too caught up in habits to turn their life around. It's NEVER too late!
19: Name a favorite of each: Drink, snack food, dessert food, meal. water, a cut up pink lady apple with peanut butter, my weekly powdered, cream filled faschnaut, and, honestly, egg on toast.
20: Do you add anything extra to your tea/coffee? I used to. But then I read the ingredients in the creamer and the flavoring I used to use. Milk and maybe chocolate syrup will be my only additive to my coffee now!
21: Favorite oatmeal toppings? cinnamon and a bit of sugar.
22: Your ultimate yoga/workout playlist would have to include what five songs? Yoga-my Thomas Walker Tai Chi album. Workout: currently Sexy and I Know It - LMFAO, Good Feeling - Flo Rida, Love Today - MIKA, Get It Started - Pitbull/Shakira, Fighter - Gym Class Heroes ft. Ryan Tedder
23: Who/what got your into yoga/running/etc. (all that apply to you)? my bff, Min for both because she'd talk about it and I'd be like: why not meeee! And just a general curiosity about both~though I have to take credit for getting HER into Zumba!
24: Do you have any 'guilty pleasure' foods? see "favorite 'guilty pleasure' food"
25: (If you do yoga) Describe your perfect, dream yoga room/space. Nice wood (bamboo!) floors, mirrors on at least one wall, lots of windows on the other. Open. Can double as a Zumba room!

mmmm sore muscles!

I am sore in places I didn’t know I could be sore in. Like the apparent muscle underneath your collarbone? Hahaha! It feels SO good, though!

Why am I sore? Baby, I just started heavy lifting!
After a few weeks/a month of pussyfooting around the idea I finally forced myself to do it. Of course, my husband wants to do it/did it with me so I feel like less of a moron, but I was still nervous. We got to the gym and there was only one other person there (thankfully!) and I kinda felt like a deer in headlights. I had studied the moves to do but I had no idea how to properly use the bars and whatnot. And things like how high we’re supposed to put the squat bar or if you’re warm up is supposed to be all the moves or just the one you’re planning on repping right away eluded me. But we figured it out and I think we did okay. I think we had the squat bar a little low still, but it’s all trial and error.

Luckily, my Zumba friend, the lady I’m coteaching classes with, Jen—her husband came in at the right time! He asked us if we were just starting out (considering we were only benchpressing just the bar because that’s as much as we could do at that moment!) and he gave us a few pointers. I thought it was very nice of him and I couldn’t be happier for the tips.

He said that if we had any questions just to ask and we thanked him. It gave me the idea that we do need a seasoned lifter to help us out—so we contacted our friend who also lifts (no offense to Jen’s husband, I just feel more comfortable with people that I know better!) and we’re going back tonight so he can give us tips/teach us more stuff!

So yeah, yesterday we stuck with squats, deadlifts, and bench presses. I will pay attention to reps next time, probably bring a notebook along! Last night we were just trying to get the feel. Dang, I felt powerful though. My husband told me I squatted like a professional! XD

In addition to that, I learned that the place where I started taking my Zumba classes this year is now offering a yoga class! Tonight. At 5:30! I’m so goingggg!!!! I like yoga, and I’ve done yoga at home, but I’ve really wanted to take a class just so I know I’m executing the moves correctly! Because I don’t want to continue with home, do them wrong and then have someone correct me so I have relearn the moves over, you know? So I’m really, really pumped! :]]

Man, I’ve got butterflies in my stomach from how excited I am about the next couple months!!!

excitement and curiousity.

I went to the gym today and weighed myself for the first time since the beginning of this month. I lost 5 lbs!!! I consider that really, REALLY good considering that I have had a lot of off days and had some not so healthy meals. Not to mention I didn’t do food research until the 2nd week of April which is also when I decided to stop drinking soda, stop eating fast food, and developed the habit to go to the farmers market every week. I also got back into weight training this month so I probably gained some muscle too. Overall I’m really proud of myself.

In addition to the loss, I checked out a Zumba class at a new place tonight! It was SO fun! The atmosphere is way more chill than my other one that tends to be very cliquey and the steps were super fun! I felt like I got a great workout—especially for my first Zumba class since my instructor training. I can’t wait to go back!

Sooo, I’m pretty active. I Zumba at least two or three days a week, I run two to five days a week, and I weight train three days a week AND try to mountain bike on the weekends weather permitting. Now that I have a pretty good routine down with nutrition and whatnot, I really want to see how far I can push myself in May. I’d like to add yoga to the mix somewhere because I’d like to improve my flexibility and I was curious about more cardio stuff—I know a few people who’ve been doing Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred or Insanity. I don’t know what P90X is, but I’m interested in learning. What would you recommend for yoga and/or cardio?
